Bala’s second game of the season got off to a great start by scoring in the first minute
The ball was moved quickly to the right wing to Rob Dascalu, who dribbled strongly passed two defenders, before sending in a dangerous cross to Jake Jones who coolly converted with ease.
This seemed to calm the visitors down, however, they didn’t push forward for a second goal as the coaching staff would have liked.
Bala’s defence coped very well with Airbus’ attacking threats, which were well marshalled by the vocal Cai Emmett in goal. Gethin Evans nearly scored on his debut but his attempted chip went wide.
In the second half, Bala were told to step up their performance and play quicker football – which was clear to see in the first 10 minutes with Stephen Hope a constant threat. Airbus were pegged back into their own half and it seemed a matter of time before Bala’s lead was doubled; Gethin went close with a header from a good cross from Alun Evans, Stephen had a terrific half volley that was cleared off the line and there was a little scramble in the box from a corner! Just as it seemed it would remain 1-0, Stephen’s attempted corner was cleared back to him, before he cut inside the defender and directed it goal-bound which sneaked in between the defender on the post and the goalkeeper, to guarantee Bala the 3 points.
Despite creating a few chances and keeping a clean sheet, it’s fair to say Bala did not play to their best today but came away with the win on a very big pitch. Still, there were some noticeable positives with strong individual performances again, especially Rob and Isaac Edwards, but the man of the match today goes to Stephen, who came on and changed the game with his pace, skills and threatening runs and was rewarded with a goal.
We now have a run of 4 games in October, with 3 of them at home. Your support will be appreciated!
