After a disappointing result last week, Bala knew they had to respond positively and get something from the game.
The game started with a quick tempo and after a few Bala chances it was Flint who struck first. It took them no more than 3 minutes to score after a scramble in the box which the defence struggled to deal with.
Following this disappointing start, all players showed a lot of commitment and desire to get something from the game. Although the Flint players were bigger and more physical, Bala stuck to the game plan and played some slick football. Ows and Daniel Dascalu were linking up well together and were giving the Flint defence something to think about. Dani Evans came close on a couple of occasions but the goalkeeper was equal to every strike.
Bala had most of the possession first half and created many problems through set pieces. The midfield was controlled for most of the game due to two excellent performances by Joe and Sion. Aron Parry also had total control of his defensive unit with both full backs (Tom and Mael) covering well and DafyddRoberts making sure that he was strong in every tackle. Well done lads.
Although Bala kept a good shape and were quick to close down, Flint were able to take a few long shots at goal. Thankfully Dafydd Jones stood firm and made sure that no more goals would be conceded before the half.
After the break Bala were on top and were playing with more confidence. Both midfield and defence were winning the first and second ball. Excellent!! Aron Parry was quick to pounce on any loose ball and Luke, Sion, Ows and Joe were also on hand to support at all times.
Ilan’s introduction proved to be a good move as his energy and willingness to win the ball pressed Bala high up the pitch. He managed to create a few chances individually and forced the keeper to make some good saves. Both Myles and Jack also came on and performed well under pressure. Excellent!
Bala’s constant pressure was rewarded when Sion Jones managed to score a bizarre goal from a corner. We were more than happy to be level at one a piece. Bala were rewarded soon after when an excellent cross by Ilan found Ows’ head. We deservedly went ahead 2 – 1.
Bothe Ilan and Daniel Dascalu fought hard to create more chances for the team but a few strikes weren’t going their way today. However, their desire to keep working rubbed off on the others and Bala came close to making it three with Daniel Cox coming close just outside the six yard box.
With ten minutes to go and Bala looking comfortable, a long ball over the top created a problem as their wide midfielder latched on and played a first time cross across the goal. Somehow the Bala defence failed to clear and it was an easy tap in. 2 each with five minutes to go.
The decisive goal came as Bala once again forced Flint high up the pitch. Daniel Cox received the ball in their box and was brought down from behind. Penalty to Bala and Daniel Dascalu slotted the ball in the corner of the net. 3 – 2 Bala. Well done boys, an excellent performance and a fantastic team effort. Keep it up.
