Bala travelled to Bangor last Friday for the last floodlit evening match to be held at Farrar Road.
The visitors got off to the best possible start when a Rees Darlington freekick floated over everyone and into the net after only 6 minutes. Bangor then contrived to miss a virtual open goal with Kyle Wilson blasting over from only 6 yards out.
Bala however were dominating and Lee Hunt went close when he failed to connect properly with a deflected Mark Jones slot.
Minutes later Peter Doran saw his goalbound shot tipped brilliantly round the post and then Lee Hunt’s header flashed inches wide after an excellent build up.
The home side then began to up their game and Terry McCormick produced a superb save from a good header.
A further spell of home pressure then produced the equaliser.
An unfortunate slip on the greasy surface by Stu Jones allowed a cross to be delivered to the feet of Les Davies who hammered home. Bangor dominated the balance of the half and Shaun Edwards hit a fierce drive only inches over.
Bala hung on to go in at the interval with the scores level.
Similar pressure continued to be placed on the visitors at the start of the second period. Bala cleared a header off the line from a corner but were then unfortunate to concede the winning goal when a deflected shot fell kindly at the feet of Les Davies only 8 yards out and he fired home.
Bala should have been level on 64 minutes when a bullet point black range header was somehow saved by the Bangor keeper but the home side also went close with a 30 yard Shaun Edwards freekick which crashed against the bar.
Bala’s defence then again cleared off the line and it was relentless home pressure.
The momentum then swung again and Bala’s substitute Chris Mason was put through only to see his shot saved by the keeper’s legs.
Lee Hunt then headed just over and in a frantic finish the referee branished yellow cards at will but the Bangor defence stood firm against consistent Bala pressure to secure the 3 points.
Bala need to now get back on their winning ways when they face Afan Lido at Maes Tegid next Sunday!
