Lakesiders dominate in Boxing Day clash.
The Lakesiders notched their third successive win on Boxing Day afternoon with a comfortable win over Prestatyn Town thanks to a brace by Les Davies.
Town began well from the outset and took a hold of the game early on. With only two minutes played, a cross from Mike Hayes was delivery to an unmarked Ian Sheridan at the backpost but the ball just missed the incoming forward before Les Davies’ shot went wide after 8 minutes.
Deservedly Town took the lead on 14 minutes when a ball came in from the left to find Les Davies around 7 yards out who’s swivel kick was rocketed home into the top corner.
Three minutes later it could’ve been 2 when a cracking ball in from Evans picked out Davies again who almost drove a carbon copy of his goal wide of the post.
Bala were in full dominance and considering the conditions of the heavy surface, we playing some very slick football and finding their men well. Nathan Burke fired over from the edge of the box prior to Stuart Jones seeing his effort hacked off the line and the resulting scramble between Venables and Davies also cleared away.
Town’s chances kept coming right before halftime – Stuart J Jones rattled the bar with his header, a Glenn Rule low daisycutter went inches wide before a spectacular effort from Venables was needed to be tipped over by Roberts who was caught off his line.
At halftime, Will Bell replaced Stuart J Jones who picked up a slight knock before the interval.
Bala’s pressure carried on throughout the second period. Paul O’Neill cleared a Town chance off the line before Jordan Evans drove narrowly over from 25 yards with only 10 minutes of the second half played.
Slowly but surely, Bala were building up their possession and it was going to be a matter of time before they scored and following wave after wave of pressure, they doubled their tally.
Substitute Hyuga Tanner did some fantastic work on the wing and put in a teasing ball into the area which found Les Davies who blasted home from close range sealing the win for the Lakesiders.
A great effort from all the lads who battled in tough playing conditions but fully deserving of the three points.
