Christmas comes early for Lakesiders with a win over Druids!

It wasn’t Santa who delivered 3 crucial points on Friday evening but two excellent goals from Ian Sheridan and Stuart Jones saw the Lakesiders wrap up a fantastic festive win.

The opening half hour was very quiet with not much happening regarding chances.

A box to box move beginning from Evans found Hayes on the wing but his ball to Davies was struck wide before down the other end Ashley Ruane was unmarked at the backpost following a Druids counter attack but his golden opportunity was fired wide.

Two successive chances for Burke and Davies were blocked and cleared away prior to a Druids freekick collected comfortably by Ashley Morris in the Town net.

After half an hour of play, Bala had their best spell of play with sustained pressure in the box that saw two chances initially cleared off the line before the ball came to Ian Sheridan bundled the ball over the line at the far post.

Before the interval, Evans and Burke combined on the left but the ball went out of play due to too much power.

The second half was a bit brighter in a game that was quite end to end due to the fast counter attacks.

Half chances came from Burke and then a swift move started by Evans, headed back into the box by Venables was fired inches wide from Sheridan from 8 yards.

Hayes played in a teasing ball towards Burke who was denied by Jones from the edge of the box as Town’s pressure was building.

With 70 minutes on the clock, Bala doubled their advantage. After a scramble in the box, Stuart Jones put his foot through the ball to fire home unmarked.

However, Druids hit back immediately. Hesp’s ball into the area arrived to Arsan who’s half volley was rocketed into the back of the net meaning it was going to be another nervy end to play at Maes Tegid!

Ashley Morris made what was possibly the save of the season to date when his point blank reaction save pushed Peate’s header onto the crossbar.

In injury time Stuart Jones made a terrific block to stop Taylor’s goalbound effort from finding the back of the net.

A hard fought three points for the Lakesiders with a win against a lively Druids outfit that sees them jump back up to 5th in the table ahead of our Christmas double header against Prestatyn.
