Disappointing result in Thursday night football.
Town making one change from Saturday’s game v Carmarthen with David Thompson replacing the suspended Les Davies.
Bala started brightly enough with a Jordan Evans 25 yard effort saved by the keeper after only two minutes of play followed by a burst of pace by Thompson releasing Jones but the move broke down in the box.
Mike Hayes tested next after 6 minutes when he lobbed the goalkeeper from outside the D but the ball soared over the crossbar.
A move between Evans, Owens, Horwood and Burke down the right allowed Evans to fire at goal in the early stages but Druids got a crucial block on the ball.
Town were dominating early possession and could’ve taken the lead after 17 minutes when Andrai Jones’ glancing header was brilliantly palmed away by Jones and then the follow up by Evans rocketing the base of the post.
However it was the home side who took the lead when Ilan ap Gareth fired home when Bala failed to clear the danger after 23 minutes.
Half chances fell to Horwood, Jones and Hayes but Town’s confidence took a further knock when 3 minutes before the interval, the referee pointed to the spot after a foul in the box. Up stepped Ruane and slammed the ball home giving the Ancients a 2-0 halftime lead.
Changes at halftime saw Valentine and Bell come on instead of Stuart Jones and David Thompson but after an hour on the clock, Druids added to their tally with a free header by Peate in the 6 yard area that put the end to any hopes of a Town comeback in the second half.
The Lakesiders welcome Aberystwyth Town to Maes Tegid next Friday – kickoff 7.45p.m.
