Chris Venables’ spot kick secures the win for the Lakesiders!

It was the tale of two halves for the Town who had a brilliant first 45 but a second half that saw Met put the pressure on.

The Lakesiders started well – a superb ball from Stuart Jones from around the corner flag found Davies on the penalty spot but a foul was awarded against him.

Hayes turned on the 18 yard line and picked out Andrai Jones but Fuller was able to save with ease.

Bala’s chances were queuing up. A delivery from Burke found Stuart J Jones at the backpost unmarked but his header soared over the crossbar. Davies was next when he burst past Lewis and drove strongly but Fuller could save.

Fuller was called into action again with a brilliant double save to stop Davies and then Hayes from opening the scoring.

Down the other end Will Evans fired high and wide from 25 yards out in one of Met’s rare chances of the half.

Bala’s momentum was growing – a goalmouth scramble that saw Hayes, Davies and Jones all involved was blocked by the Met backline before a stunning passage of play by Town involving 25 passes broke down in the box.

On the 36th minute, Bala got the goal they deserved. A brilliant first time low strike from 15 yards by Burke was smashed into the bottom left hand corner giving the Lakesiders the lead at the interval.

Met almost got a level within a minute of the restart when Jordan Lam’s spectacular effort rattled the crossbar.

A free header from Venables took the paint of the post down the other end before another delivery from Hayes was just inches wide of incoming Venables in the box that should’ve seen Town add their second.

From the resulting clearance from Met, they got an equaliser. Met broke down the left hand side that saw Lam put a ball in for Roscrow side foot the ball past Morris.

Met could’ve taken the lead but two incredible reaction saves from Morris kept them at bay.

After the goal, Bala got back into gear and four minutes from time when Hayes was brought down in the box for the ref to point to the spot. Venables stepped up but Fuller saved the kick before Chris’ follow up was buried into the back of the net to seal the win for the Lakesiders.

A good day for the Lakesiders who notched their second win of the season against a strong Met squad who will do well this season.

It’s back to Maes Tegid for the Lakesiders on Tuesday night as we welcome Newtown in the League Cup.
