Bala Town will face Larne FC in the First Qualifying Round of the UEFA Europa Conference League over two legs!
Following the First Qualifying Round draw of the UEFA Europa Conference League today, we can confirm our opponents are Larne FC of Northern Ireland, with the first leg being played at home on the 8th of July, and the away leg on the 15th of July.
We can confirm our home leg on the 8th of July will be played at The New Saints’ Park Hall Stadium, then a week later on the 15th of July we will travel to Northern Ireland to play at Inver Park.
Larne FC are a professional Northern Irish football club who reside in County Antrim and compete in the NIFL Premiership. The club was founded in 1889 and are yet to compete in European competition and will debut in the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League.
The Northern Irish side booked their place in the UECL by overcoming Cliftonville in a Play-Off final with a 3-1 scoreline, which finished off a successful season which ended just 10 days ago.
As previously mentioned our opponents play at Inver Park which has a capacity of 2,500 and was constructed in 1918. Since 2018, the ground has been renovated with an artificial pitch, floodlights and a new 600 seat stand. Another 600 seater stand has been under construction and was expected to be finished in Spring 2021.
In 2018 the club was taken over by the co-founder of ‘Purple Bricks’ Kenny Bruce, and then went on to win the 2018/19 NIFL Championship, which secured a return to the top division having been relegated to the second division in the 2007/08 season, after failing to meet the criteria needed for the newly formed IFA Premiership.
So it’s a trip over the Irish Sea for the Lakesiders, but who will come out on top over two legs? Either way it’s a cracking tie to look forward to!
Information about the possibility of supporters attending will be released in the near future.
