A trip down to Barry for The Lakesiders today!

After two consecutive defeats at the hands of Connah’s Quay and Caernarfon Town, The Lakesiders are on their travels for the final time before the split.

The hosts currently sit in 5th place, after a record of two wins and two defeats since the resumption of the league, with both defeats coming by way of Penybont just a week apart from each other. Despite sitting in the Champions Conference places, Barry are the 4th lowest scorers in the league this season, with only Cardiff Met, Flint Town and Cefn Druids scoring less than the South Wales side.

On the other hand, Bala currently sit in 3rd place, with an even better goal scoring record than table toppers Connah’s Quay, yet The Lakesiders have conceded ten more goals compared to the league leaders. Defeats to Nomads and Caernarfon Town have damaged The Lakesider’s title hopes massively, with a 15 point gap between The Town and the league leaders.

The previous meeting between the two clubs saw The Town comfortably collect the three points in a 4-0 win over Gavin Chesterfield’s side. The Captain Chris Venables would open the scoring after just six minutes, and it wasn’t long until he grabbed his brace, with a header at the back post after just half an hour! As the game went into added time at the end of the half, Venables grabbed his third! A simple tap in for the Captain to seal a first half hat trick! Will Evans secured the points in the second half after Raul Correia put the ball on a plate for our number 8, as he tucked the ball into the bottom corner to give the Town the 4-0 win!

Will there be a different outcome this time round? We hope not! However the hosts are yet to secure their Champions Conference place, with Haverfordwest County and Caernarfon Town fighting along Barry Town for those final places, therefore the hosts will definitely be up for this one!
