Bala Town are delighted to announce the signing of Jon Rushton from Prestatyn Town!
Jon Rushton joins the Lakesiders from Prestatyn Town after being at the club since 2019.
The 30 year old has previously played for Cymru Premier rivals Connah’s Quay Nomads who was signed back in 2011. While contracted to Nomads, he picked up 38 appearances in the Welsh Premier League, with 3 appearances in the Europa League Playoff matches. He also had stints at Newtown and Holywell Town during his time at Nomads.
Jon also helped Nomads qualify for the Europa League in 2016 with 2 clean sheets having come into side following an injury to their keeper, while also saving a penalty against Camarthen to send Connah’s Quay into the Europa League.
He’s also had stints at Vauxhall Motors, Manor Athletic, Penycae and Brickfield Rangers.
Jon will wear the number 28 shirt for the Town.
Colin Caton had this to say this about his new signing;
“I’ve always been a big admirer of Jon when he’s played against us in the past for Connah’s Quay, then he’s been at Prestatyn, and was the best keeper in the league with Prestatyn. He’ll add strength and depth, say if Ramsay gets injured, John will be a great cover, so he’ll be challenging Ramsay for the number 1 spot as well, so it’ll be good competition. It’s good we’ve taken on the opportunity that the Tier 2 league doesn’t look like it’ll start until after Christmas, so we’ve signed John until January and we’ll see what the situation is then, if he goes back and plays then obviously we’ll release him to go back, if not, it’s great to have him onboard, he’s mixed in really well and he’s a great keeper”
