New year, new signings for the Reserves!

Both Galdo and Daf have been busy in securing new signings to bolster the squad, ready for the second half of the season.

The first lot of signings were announced on January 7th, which saw 3 new signings revealed on social media.

Firstly, we saw Sion Parry sign for the Reserves! Sion who previously played for Cerrig, joined the Reserves and featured in the first game of 2020, against Airbus on the 11th of January. We wish Sion a successful time while playing for the Reserves! Croeso Sion!

Next up to be announced, was Jake Jamieson, who previously played for CPD Llanuwchllyn and decided to make the switch to the Reserves. Both Galdo and Daf are delighted with the signing, as it gives them more defensive options in a pivotal second half to the season. Croeso Jake!

Lastly, for the final signing of the day, was Sam Roberts, who also switched from Cerrig to the Reserves! Sam offers the squad more options and as a tall player, he will be great addition to the squad in the Reserves’ league. Croeso Sam!

That was it for the first day of signings, with plenty more to follow…

Next up to be announced, on the 10th of January, was a long term target of the management in Galdo and Daf, which saw Llion Thomas sign for the Reserves! Following Jake from CPD Llanuwchllyn, Llion who offers attacking options who was available for the upcoming game in Airbus at home, the following weekend. We were able to question Assistant Manager Daf Hughes, on the new signings and the goals for the second half of the season.

Daf was asked ‘How happy are you with the signings you’ve made so far this window? With Daf responding with:

“So far we’re very happy with the signings we’ve made. A mixture of youth and experience that will certainly strengthen us. If we think theres a chance of adding quality to the squad then we will try and get them, but the signings we make will have to be the right fit to what we are building with the reserves”

Daf was then asked about what the signings could offer to the current squad? To which Daf replied with:

“We have signed a mixture of youth and experience and they all bring different qualities to our squad. They will strengthen our squad and will provide good competition for places. It freshens the squad up and also gives us extra options to what we’ve had throughout the first half of the season. We have struggled to get numbers for away games and with the new signings we hope that we don’t have this problem for the second half of the season”

With regards to the first half of the season, Daf was then asked how did he feel the first half of the season went for the team, and with a mixed response, he replied:

“First half of the season was a bit of a mixture, played 12, won 4, lost 4, drawn 4. We have had some very good performances and good results and there’s other games where we should have taken all 3 points. but mistakes have cost us and we’ve ended up with a draw. The 4 games we’ve lost have been against top 5 opposition which is something we take into perspective. We have competed in every game bar 1 which was the Saltney game at home, and this is very encouraging for us as a management team. Overall we are pleased with how the season has gone so far. From where we started to where we are now is a testament to all the hard work the players have put in and how much they want to see Bala Reserves succeeding”

Lastly, Daf was asked, what are the goals for the second half of the season, to which he responded with:

“Goal for the second half of the season is simple, pick up as many points as we can and climb up the table. We have 16 games to play, thats a lot of points to play for. With the new additions that we’ve made to the squad, we are very confident of going on a good run and picking up points. We have a lot of talent in this squad and we feel that on our day, we are good enough to beat any team in the division. We will approach every game in a positive manner and with the attitude that we can beat any team we come up against. We go out to try and win every game, we want the team to have the winning mentality. Finishing the season with a good run of results is the aim, and that will put us in a good position ready for next season”

A very good interview from our Assistant Manager, Daf, and a good insight on the signings and goals for the second half to the season!
