After this week’s news of two new signings, Manager Colin Caton spoke exclusively to balatownfc.co.uk tonight about his thoughts on the Town squad and our upcoming games.
“Reflecting about the new signings coming in, they are going to give us different options from the bench and add strength in depth to the squad”.
“At the start of the season, when Danny Gosset was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer we didn’t replace him in the squad so we have always been one midfield player short. Then Evan Horwood left the Club just before Christmas which we couldn’t do anything about really due to his move back up to the north east so we’ve been two midfield players down” Caton commented honestly.
“Danny is a central midfield player and Evan was an utility player who could play in numerous postitions so since then we have been low in numbers in the squad and we have only had defenders as options on the bench.”
“Ollie and Louis will add the strength in depth and options on the bench now instead of just defenders being there. There is now competition for places so the squad is the same size as what started the season and I am really happy with the squad now especially going into the next twelve crucial games.”
“We have a really challenging game away at Cardiff Met on Saturday and then and another tough game against Druids the week after” Colin stated.
“It will be the toughest top six since we have been in the League so we need that strength in depth especially as everybody else has large squads and we need one aswell, but the squad is no different to what we had at the start of the season when we had Danny and Evan available.
He continued “They were quality players and now bringing Ollie in with the top class ability that he’s got, he’s going to add a strength to us. With people coming in and making our squad stronger it makes players react and bounce their ability on the pitch.”
“They have performance levels to keep up to now and there’s fine lines in this game and everybody needs to be at the races for the next twelve games.”
“Onto Saturday now, we’ll focus on that, get ourselves right and hopefully get a result there” he concluded.
