Fantastic four for the Lakesiders!

It has been quite the week for the Lakesiders who notched a comprehensive win against Newtown only three days after beating Prestatyn in the Nathaniel MG Cars League Cup.

Bala started incredibly bright and were playing with intent from the outset.

After two minutes of play, Henry Jones pulled a low strike wide from near range before having a series of corners cleared by the Newtown backline.

Town were awarded a freekick after 12 minutes when Louis Robles was toppled on the edge of the box. Henry Jones stepped up and whipped a freekick into the left hand side and sending the Lakesiders into the lead.

Newtown crept back into the game after Bala went ahead as they applied pressure. Harry was deemed offside from Williams’ throughball before a freekick led to Niall Flint firing wide from the edge in an excellent opportunity for the visitors.

Venables headed over the bar from Burns cross before Town added another goal to their tally.

A break down the right by Venables saw him power through Mills-Evans and picking out Robles unmarked, he then connected brilliantly with the ball and lobbed the keeper from around 6 yards to make it 2-0.

They had an opportunity to make it 3 just before the interval as Henry Jones broke free but he struck his effort narrowly wide of the far post.

Things got back underway in the driving rain and fair to say it was a fiery half!

Newtown should’ve got a goal back after only a minute of play when a corner arrived to Williams but Josh Tibbetts spectacularly tipped the goalbound strike over the crossbar.

Kenton was next to be denied by Tibbetts when his near range chance was pushed around the post.

The visitors were down to ten men on 52 minutes when George Harry was sent off for an altercation with goalkeeper Tibbetts.

With a man to their advantage, Bala took back a hold of the match and it took them only five minutes to make it count.

Jones cross flashed across the face of goal to Robles at the far post who blasted the ball in over Jones from around 4 yards out making it 3-0.

A header from Lassana Mendes was placed inches wide of the post from a Jones freekick on the edge of the area before Town were down to ten men themselves when Mendes was given a second yellow and sent for an early shower just after the hour.

Like Tuesday night v Prestatyn, being a man down didn’t faze the Lakesiders who dug deep and continued to pressure the visiting side.

Stephens saw a header pushed over the bar before Tibbetts in the Town net denied McAllister’s powerful strike minutes later.

With three minutes left to play, Bala rounded off their evening with a fourth and Robles’ sealed his hatrick when Leslie’s teasing ball on the left hits the base of the post which falls into Robles’ path and poked home from three yards out to seal the win.

It was a historic night for the Lakesiders who secured their 150th win in the JD Cymru Premier which also lifted them into fourth in the table. An excellent performance and well deserved three points after a demanding week for the lads.

Town now head to face Aberystwyth Town next Friday with kickoff at 8.00p.m.
