“Accrington Stanley, who are they?”
Thirteen years since their last visit, Football League side Accrington Stanley will be visiting Maes Tegid for the second time on Saturday after opening our floodlights back in 2006.
Managed by John Coleman, Stanley played Marseille last week winning 2-1 and have six new signings already in the form of Ben Barclay, Lamine Sherif, Joe Maguire, Zaine Francies-Angol, Colby Bishop and Joe Pritchard. Former The New Saints midfielder Sam Finley who will be a familiar name by Town supporters also plays for Accrington.
Finishing 14th in League One last season after promotion the season previous, Stanley’s rise through the football pyramid has been impressive – they have come a long way since the famous milk advert in the 80’s!
The Lakesiders had a tough test against Southport on Wednesday evening but were very happy with their performance during the narrow 1-0 defeat.
Town have no fresh injury doubts with only Ashley Morris and Danny Gosset currently recovering from their injuries. Again, there will be trialists on show and it will give the Town management chance to rotate the squad once more.
There will be a double header at Maes Tegid as the Reserves will be at home against Saltney Town Reserves at 11.00a.m. prior to the First Team game so please come and show your support if you arrive early!
A reminder to Town supporters that season ticket forms will be available for the forthcoming season.
