Saints in seventh heaven.

There are some days in football when all you can do is raise your hands and say you were beaten by a better side, tonight was that evening for the Lakesiders.

From the outset, the visitors were a threat as they came firing out of the blocks.

It took 8 minutes for The Saints to open the scoring when Ryan Brobbel fired in from close range.

Town did have a good spell for quarter of an hour when Horwood curled over from a 20 yard freekick before the chance of the half for the Lakesiders. Horwood’s determination allowed him to break and find Hayes on the left with the cross coming into Stephens but his shot was pulled wide of the post.

A cross came into the area with the ball bouncing around but no Bala shirt was able to get the crucial touch to put the ball in the net.

Before halftime, TNS doubled their total when Redmond scored after Town couldn’t clear the danger.

Bala could’ve got a goal back during added time when Mike Hayes broke free but his shot was smothered by Harrison in the TNS net.

The second half was a TNS footballing masterclass when Draper made it 3 after two minutes of play, Cieslewicz added a fourth on the hour and then Dean Ebbe making it 5-0.

There were flashes of opportunities for Bala when Routledge blocked Stuart J. Jones’ header off the line and Andy Burns’ low fizzing shot going inches wide of the far upright.

A sixth by Draper and seventh by Cieslewicz saw the game out for the visitors but there was a huge positive for the Lakesiders who saw Joe Edwards from the Under 19’s make his long awaited first team debut and did superbly after coming onto the field of play.

Back to the drawing board for the Lakesiders but credit to The New Saints – tonight was an fantastic performance by a potentially title winning team.
