This was an excellent opportunity for the fringe players to step up to the plate and show their progression after a period of good training sessions, due to the absence of a few of the regulars.
Llandudno started brightly with their physical and skilfull central midfielder having a lot of the ball, playing positively with their strong forwards but our defence held firm to restrict them to a few half chances. Our keeper who started in goal was excellent in smothering any shots and through balls that did manage to break through our rear-guard. Our midfield took time to get into the rhythm of the game but as soon as they did they were an outlet to release the pressure on our defence from Llandudno’s constant attacks. Our centre forward who started up front on the tip of the attack never stopped running, winning the ball back from their defence numerous times and was unlucky not to be rewarded due to a couple of great tackles from Llandudno’s rearguard.
Bala enjoyed more of the possession and attacking threat in the second quarter with a few well taken chances just reward for the hard work and quality football that was being shown, with Llandudno going close on a few occasions. The game was end to end at times.
Bala started to lose key battles all over the pitch. Llandudno came back into the game, we struggled to contain them at times and Llandudno were rewarded deservedly for driving forward at every available opportunity. Our keeper kept on making numerous saves to keep us in the game.
Final quarter was even as both teams found a second wind, Llandudno’s attacks kept coming with our defence managing to restrict and starting our counter attacks but Llandudno’s defence was just as resolute in containing our attacks.
A goal each was reward for both teams for the final quarter.
Man of the Match – Elliot Jones. Played a full game and never stopped running all game. 2 goals was just rewards.
