Town ease into Round 4.

Tuesday saw Bala make the journey back to Flint for the re-arranged JD Welsh Cup tie after Saturday’s postponement.

The home side started quite well and were looking organised in the opening stages with Bala not creating many clear cut efforts apart from a Henry Jones freekick which almost found the net when it was whipped in.

Town settled however and midway through the half were taking a hold of the game and having much of the possession. Crosses from Jones and Burns on the right and Smith from the left were seeing plenty of balls coming into the area but Bala not able to get that final clinical chance on goal.

After 28 minutes however Bala took a deserved lead. Hayes did some fantastic build-up work and held the ball up strong which ended up coming into the path of Henry Jones who hooked the ball over to Tames and he then headed home from 2 yards out.

Town kept up the pressure up until the interval with Hayes seeing his header tipped over by the keeper before Jones’ powerful low drive from outside the area fizzed inches past the post.

Proceedings turned in Bala’s favour when Flint were down to ten men as Foulkes was sent off for punching Tames after twelve minutes of the second half.

Bala took full advantage of this and doubled their goal tally when a Town freekick was spilled by the goalkeeper and instinctively tapped into the empty net by Chris Venables.

Play was getting fiesty with the tackles flying in and yellow cards brandished but Bala kept their discipline and continued their professional display.

It was soon 3-0 on the 70th minute as a fantastic break down the wing by Tames saw him cut into the area and square the ball to an unmarked Mike Hayes who tucked the ball into the net.

The Lakesiders were cruising and dominating play with Morris not having a save to make in the Bala goal.

Town could’ve added a fourth in additional time when substitute Ian Sheridan rattled the base of the post from eighteen yards.

A professional display from the Lakesiders who now go on to face Haverfordwest County in Round 4 in January.
