Our series of ‘Who’s Who’ continues!

This week, it’s Sion Roberts

Tell us a bit about you!
I’m Sion Roberts married to Mair and have three sons John, Gareth and Osian. I am a structural steel fabricator and work in Brithdir near Dolgellau. When I’m not at work I am a First Responder covering the Bala area, I’m also a member of Bro Glyndwr Male Voice Choir based in Corwen. I am also keen on motorsports mostly rallying and a strong Liverpool F.C. supporter and of course Bala Town F.C…

How long have you been watching the Bala Town? How did you start watching the Lakesiders and what made you start?
I started watching Bala Town just after promotion to the Welsh Premier League. One of my sons had an admission pass and it all started from there really.

What is your role at the Club? What do you do on a matchday?
I am Head of Security at Bala Town F.C. On matchdays I carry safety checks of the ground prior to matches, organise stewards and liaise with club directors.

How would you describe Bala Town F.C.?
Bala Town Football Club is a great community club, is a great advertisement for the town of Bala.

What is your favourite moments following the Lakesiders and why?
Qualifying for European football is one of my favourite moments with Bala Town F.C. but by far the greatest was winning the Welsh Cup last season. That was a very emotional and happy day.

Who do you think is the best player that has worn the Bala Town shirt over the period you ave supported them and why?
The best player in my opinion to have worn the Bala Town shirt is our shot stopper Ashley Morris, he has produced some spectacular saves and is constantly commanding his defence.

What does Bala Town mean to you?
Bala Town F.C. has definitely delivered on the field of play but Maes Tegid is a great venue to chat with friends and make new ones too.

Which player signing has made you go ‘wow’ and why?
Over the years Bala Town F.C. has made some impressive signings – Jonah, Hunty and Les Davies. But the most impressive to me was the signature of triple golden boot winner Chris Venables. His credentials speak for itself, great playmaker and a blistering right foot.

Sum up this season thus far in one sentence?
A slow start but now in an epic battle again for automatic European football

What do you think is the next step for Bala Town F.C.?
Next step for Bala Town F.C. is being League Champions
