For the second week running Bala Town U14’s lost to their opponents from Connahs Quay.

On the day Connahs Quay were by far the better and stronger side but to be fair to Bala, they kept battling to the end.

Connah’s Quay got off to a flying start and took the lead on 4 minutes when a corner was whipped in from their left-hand side which ran across the goal and was easily knocked in at the far post.

Connah’s Quay were then on top for large parts of the first half and doubled their lead on the half hour mark when another corner from the left-hand side was headed home into the back of the net.

Bala had their best chance just before the interval when a break from the back saw James released down the Bala left but he was unable to get a shot off on goal.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first and Connahs Quay added their third after 12 minutes from yet another corner. The corner was played to the edge of the 18-yard box and the Connahs Quay player shot into the top corner leaving Gethin no chance.

Bala then had their best period of the game and three speculative efforts from Josh from 30 yards were comfortably saved by the keeper.

Bala’s determination finally rewarded them with a consolation goal just before the final whistle. A clearance from Gethin found Rhydian unmarked in the centre circle and his through ball to Dylan saw him get behind the Nomads defence and take the ball calmly round the keeper and slot it home.

Fulltime: Connah’s Quay U14’s 3, Bala Town U14’s 1
