Ahead of Friday’s game with Connah’s Quay, we spoke to Will Bell about the season to date, the Town squad and the weekend ahead.

We are four games into the new campaign and Clubs are starting to settle into their seasons. Two wins and one loss sees Town sit 6th in the table on equal points with four other teams in the WPL. So what has central defender Will Bell made of the season so far?

“I think every game is going to be tough with every team wanting to make a statement of intent. But I think we have done quite well. The TNS game we weren’t the best but we put it right the next week against Cardiff”.

A new season brings new additions to the squad making it quite competitve for places. Will has started 1 game and come onto the pitch 3 times, so how does he intend on sealing a spot in the starting lineup?

“Our squad is the strongest it’s been since I’ve been here I think. For me to nail a starting place I just need to keep training hard and keep trying to impress the Gaffer and a bit of luck I think”.

He elaborated further “It’s a long season and we will all have our part to play in our season. But I feel fit and sharp and ready to play”.

Town have started the season better than the last but the Bala squad have been hit with injuries recently. The international break brought a weekend off for the Lakesiders giving a chance for the lads to recuperate but not everyone is a fan of the time off!

“Personal I don’t like weekends off, I want to play and train all the time but it’s just one of them things” Bell told us.

Friday’s opponents Connah’s Quay have started well and sit second in the WPL table. Will is expecting a tough test on Friday but explains that the Lakesiders will be fully focused on the task at hand.

“Friday we will see. Quay will be a well organised well drilled side with experienced players throughout their squad.”

He continued “We just have to think about ourselves and worry about our game plan. We have enough quality in our squad to win any game in front of us if we go about our jobs the right way.”

The Lakesiders are away at Connah’s Quay on Friday evening – kickoff 7.45p.m. Don’t miss it!
