Spoils shared at Y Traeth.
The Lakesiders had a frustrating afternoon at Y Traeth away at Porthmadog with plenty of possession, chances a plenty but lacking in the final third.
Town started well, a delivery from Venables was met by Andrai Jones but Port keeper Tyler French beat him to the ball, Nathan Burke’s goalbound strike from the edge of the D was crucially blocked on the line prior to Evans swinging the ball to Sheridan’s path who instinctively curled the ball with the outside of his foot but French got a vital touch to turn the ball around the post.
Bala were dominating possession, a good move between Horwood, Evans and Venables threatened the Port backline but play broke down in the box before another Horwood delivery was headed back towards goal by Venables but it was scrambled away by Port.
Port had two chances to threaten – the first by Williams who’s tight angled strike hit the side netting and then Cai Jones who saw his low effort turned around the post by Morris
The Lakesiders took the lead two minutes before halftime when Evans picked up possession around 35 yards out and drove forward, weaving past three men and smashed the ball low into the bottom left hand corner giving Bala a lead going into the break.
The second half saw the home side start brightly and a 10 minute spell for them resulted in an equaliser when Bradley picked out Doran who cooly slotted home.
Burke curled over and Wade blazed over for the Lakesiders from the restart before Evans’ teasing ball was aimed towards Jones who slightly mistimed his jump and saw the ball go out of play.
Bell saw his effort blocked, Stuart J Jones headed wide at the backpost and Evans’ fired over from close range with Bala lacking composure in the final third.
The game finished flat with a raging thunderstorm in the clouds above reflecting the frustrating mood of the missed chances that the Lakesiders had. However, plenty of positives to take away with the new lads starting to gel and the midfield especially looking sharp.
