Bala Town are proud to reveal that construction work has begun at Maes Tegid, replacing the grass surface and installing a new state of the art 3G synthetic pitch.

The project which is part-funded by Gwynedd Council, the Football Association of Wales and UEFA’s Hat Trick programme began on Monday, 4th of July and will commence for between 10-12 weeks.

Work includes clearing the site, removing topsoil, installing drainage, fencing and dugouts, carpet and perimeter work and as work progresses, we will be posting regular photos updates of the new Maes Tegid pitch being laid.

Chief Executive Nigel Aykroyd said: “This is the culmination of over 2 years of hard work and delicate negotiation to arrive at this project commencement stage. It is a huge investment for the future of the younger generation of sporting participation in Bala and its surrounding areas.  Bala Town must thank considerably the help we have received from all its partners in this project which has enabled this development to transform from a distant dream to actual reality.”

Also speaking of the new development, FAW President David Griffiths said; “The Welsh success at Euro 2016 has inspired our Nation and we want youngsters hooked on football for life – When open, the new 3G facility in Bala will allow the stars of tomorrow from throughout Gwynedd, the opportunity to play football on a quality surface in all types of weather.”
